Some of your friends may be using other calendar or list applications. If your friend is using an application that recognizes the iCal format, you can let her subscribe to your view-only calendar or to do list and display it in her application.
You can offer your calendar or list in two ways: as an iCal file or as a URL, which includes the iCal format.
iCal file: for applications, such as Outlook, that require an .ics formatted file. You need to export the calendar or list to a file on your computer. and then send it to your friend. When you share a file, it contains the current events or to dos only. If you add to your calendar or list, the new items won’t display in your friend’s version.
URL: for applications, such as gmail, that require a Web address to the calendar or list. You’ll find this option, .ICS Link, on the Share Calendar / To Do List page.
Note: Some applications allow their users to share calendars and lists they deem public. In gmail, for example, a user can add your calendar and check a box that allows others to find your calendar via their calendar search feature.
To export and share an iCal calendar file:
Make sure your calendars are visible by clicking
the calendars and search icon (
).

The calendars and search panel opens on top of your calendar.

The Edit Calendar page opens.
On the right side of the edit page, click the Export Now button.

The save window opens.
In the window that opens, select the option that allows you to save the file to your computer.
Note: The look of the window may vary depending on your browser, your computer’s operating system, and the display settings you use.
The file is saved on your computer (on the Desktop in the example below) and only contains the events for the selected calendar layer. All other layers remain private unless you decide to share them.

On the right side of the page, click Other Ways to Share.

Your other sharing options display.
Under .ICS Link, copy the URL.

Tips: Don’t click the URL. If you do, you’ll open the item that you’re attempting to share. Instead, make sure the entire line is visible, then with the cursor at the beginning of the line, press the mouse button, drag the cursor to the end of the line, and release the button. Now you can copy the URL.
If you like, set up other calendars or lists to be shared. Click here to learn how.
Click the Save button.

Send the copied URL to your friends (via email, text message, however you like).
Your friends can use the URL to import the view-only calendar or list into their applications. All of your other calendars and lists remain private unless you decide to share them.
If you decide that you no longer want to share your calendar or list, click the Reset button below the URL under .ICS Link. Doing so changes the URL, and the one you sent to your friends is no longer valid.
