The Messenger List is a list of contacts (your friends, family, and associates) who also use Messenger. You can communicate with anyone on your Messenger List—send instant messages, make PC-to-PC calls, play games, and more.
The list includes groups of contacts.

Populate your Messenger List with contacts by asking people who have a Messenger ID if you can add them to your list. You can also invite people to join you in using Messenger. Once you and a contact agree to communicate, you can use any of Yahoo! Messenger’s features to interact with each other.
Note: When communicating with a -Windows Live™ Messenger contact, certain features aren’t available, such as PC-to-PC calling.
The Contact Search Bar lets you find friends in your Yahoo! Address Book so that you can easily begin a conversation. As you type a name, phone number, or almost any information in your address book, Messenger immediately displays a list of names and communication options. Just click an option and start interacting with your friend. Learn more in the Introducing Yahoo! Messenger tutorial.
