Using the Messenger Sidebar Module

Overview Using Messenger Sidebar Module Features

Overview

The Messenger Sidebar module allows you to send instant messages without having to open the full AT&T Yahoo! Messenger application. Any incoming messages you receive appear in the usual Instant Message window.

Note: You must have AT&T Yahoo! Messenger installed to use the Messenger Sidebar module. If you do not have Messenger installed, click the link that appears in the Messenger Sidebar module to go to a download page and install Messenger.

The Messenger Sidebar module has two views:

  • Collapsed as a mini-module

    The Messenger mini-module

You can click the Messenger mini-module (outside of the pull-down menu) to make Messenger the active Sidebar module.

  • Expanded as the active module

    The active Messenger module

When Messenger is displayed on the Sidebar as either a mini-module or the active module, it displays your current online status and provides a pull-down menu you can use to change your status.

Here's How

    1. If you are not signed in to Messenger, a Sign In to Messenger link appears on the mini-module. Click that link to sign in.

    2. Select the desired status from the pull-down list to change it.

Select your Messenger status from the menu

What's Next

When Messenger is the active module, you can send an instant message, invite a friend to co-browse with you, start your Webcam, and add a contact to Messenger.
