What's New in Yahoo! Web Analytics 10.2.1
The newest release of the Yahoo! Web Analytics includes a number of new features and enhancements. The table below contains a brief overview of the key features, with links to more in-depth feature descriptions and corresponding help topics.
| Feature | Description | Online Information |
|---|---|---|
| Remove Superflous Query String Parts from exitlink URL | Remove non-essential characters to reduce impact on string limitations. | Learn more. |
| Restore Filters Under Report Datagrid | Options restored under Filters tab when viewing reports. | Learn more. |
| Searchable Reporting Menus | Reporting menus are now searchable. | Learn more. |
Remove Superfluous Query String Parts from Exitlink URLs
Starting with Version 10.2.1, Yahoo! Web Analytics will strip characters from Exitlink URL's that follow these special characters:
| Character | Description |
|---|---|
| ? | Question mark |
| ; | Ampersand |
| # | Pound sign |
Users impacted by existing string limitations will benefit from the system stripping these characters prior to data processing as this should decrease the count of stored strings for the account.
Restore Filters Under Report Datagrid
For reports where the Filters tab is displayed over the tabular report data, a number of filters have been restored, including:
- Browser Version
- Directory
- Document Group
- Domain
- Downloaded File Name
- Downloaded File URL
- Entry Document Group
- Entry Domain
- Entry Page Title
- Entry Page URL
- Internal Search Phrase
- Member
- Page Title
- Page URL
- Paid Search Listings
- Product SKU
- Referring Domain
- Referring URL
- Search Listings
- Search Phrases
- Visiting Organizations
This string filtering enables you to further define which results you would like displayed in your report.
Searchable Reporting Menus
Yahoo! Web Analytics users have a wide variety of selection of reports available to them (both "out of the box" reports and custom reports).
With version 10.2.1, user can now search for a particular report by name (rather than traversing the entire report hierarchy).
To search for a report by name:
- Click on the Reports tab.
- Click anywhere in the "Find report" box at the top of the reports list on the left side of the page.
- Start typing part of the report name. As you enter characters, the list of matching reports is filtered to show only those reports that contain the specified characters. You need not enter the start of the report name; entering either "Dash" or "Board" will search for "Dashboard".
- When you see the report that you want to run, click on it to display the report.
You can also click on the "X" in the Find report box to cancel the search.
