Yahoo! Web Analytics enables you to compare two or more segments within the same report. You can:

  • Analyze the traffic for one or more given segments.
  • Compare the global segment to the segment of your choice.
  • Compare multiple segments side-by-side.

To compare two or more segments:

  1. Choose a report.
  2. Choose Compare Segments from the report toolbar (if available).
  3. Apply segments by dragging them to the target section indicated in the overlay.
  4. Choose Show Report to update the display (or Cancel if you change your mind).
  5. The report will be generated again and each segment will appear in its own column.

Note: If you filter your report using the Segment tab (as described in the previous section) before using the Compare Segments tool, those results are further filtered according to that selection.

Notes:

  • At the beginning of every session, the reports displayed are for the Global (All) segment. If you select one or more segments, they remain active until you either select different segment(s) or log out.
  • If the Compare Segments item is not displayed in the Report Toolbar for a particular report, then you cannot compare segments for it.
