What are the Yahoo! Travel Advertiser Guidelines?

Yahoo! has established the following Yahoo! Travel Advertiser Guidelines (the "Guidelines") to help maximize the quality of, and describe the type of, Travel Offers that may be sold by Yahoo! Travel Advertisers ("you" or "your") through the Yahoo! Travel Submit service (the "Service"). You and each of your Travel Offers must comply with these mandatory Guidelines.

If a Travel Offer does not comply with these Guidelines, Yahoo!, in its sole discretion, may remove any Travel Offer from the Service and Yahoo! may also, in its sole discretion, terminate any Yahoo! Travel Advertiser's account (including Yahoo! ID and email account). Yahoo! reserves the right to change these Guidelines at any time without notice.

  1. Fraud or Deception. Yahoo! Travel Advertisers must not use or manipulate the Service for any fraudulent or deceptive activity or purpose, including, but not limited to, using a fraudulent or deceptive payment instrument to pay Yahoo!, selling Travel Offers and not delivering what was promised to the buyer, selling Travel Offers based on materially incomplete or misleading descriptions or information, phishing passwords or other user information, or any other act that results in making deceptive representations to or defrauding Yahoo! or any user, as determined in Yahoo!'s sole discretion.
  2. Compliance. Yahoo! Travel Advertisers must comply with all applicable laws and regulations, these Guidelines, and applicable Yahoo! Terms of Service. Yahoo! Travel Advertisers must not offer for sale or sell a product to any customer in a jurisdiction where the sale, offer or product would violate applicable laws or regulations, or offer for sale or sell a product through any person or entity whose participation in such transaction would violate any applicable laws or regulations. It is the responsibility of the Yahoo! Travel Advertiser to ensure that your Travel Offers comply with all applicable laws and regulations and are appropriate for sale under all applicable laws and regulations. In addition, every travel product listed for sale must be consistent with Yahoo!'s policies, as determined in Yahoo!'s sole discretion. Yahoo! expressly reserves the right to, but has no duty to, reject or remove any product or listing in Yahoo!'s sole discretion.
  3. Accessing Travel Offers. Yahoo! Travel Advertisers must ensure that the specific advertised Travel Offer and all information required by law to be disclosed to the consumer may be accessed by a single click from the Yahoo! Travel site.
  4. Full price advertising. Travel Offers must disclose the full price to be paid for the advertised travel product, but may state separately government-imposed taxes and fees consistent with applicable law. Travel Offers involving an air component must include any service or booking fees, fuel surcharges, mandatory insurance charges, or any other mandatory charges or fees, as applicable, in the advertised price.
  5. Taxes, Fees and Conditions. Detailed tax and fee information and any material conditions or restrictions associated with the Travel Offer must be provided with your Travel Feed or accessible on the first page launched upon a single click of the Travel Offer hyperlink. Mandatory fees payable to third parties, such as hotel linen charges or energy surcharges, must also be disclosed. For air transportation involving code-share or wet lease operations, the identity of the operating carrier must be accessible to the consumer by a single click.
  6. Roundtrip Travel. Travel Offers must be advertised on a roundtrip per-person basis or, if the advertised price is for one-way or multi-person transportation, the Travel Offer must prominently state "one-way" in the Travel Offer Description.
  7. Travel Feeds. Your Travel Feed must not list the same offer in multiple Travel Offers in order to boost the number of instances or locations that your Travel Offer may appear in the Service.
  8. Category. Yahoo! Travel Advertisers must properly categorize Travel Feeds. Travel Offers cannot be improperly categorized so as to appear in multiple categories or more popular categories.
  9. Accuracy. Yahoo! Travel Advertisers must provide complete and accurate information and accurately describe their Travel Offers. You must not include any language in your Travel Offer description that may deceive or confuse potential customers or cause your Travel Offer to be included in categories or locations that don't accurately describe your Travel Offer.
  10. Contact Information. Yahoo! Travel Advertisers must provide accurate contact information. You must provide an accurate company physical address (P.O. boxes and similar identifiers are not sufficient), phone number, email address, and refund policy in the information section of your store or service.
  11. Description. Yahoo! Travel Advertisers must provide a complete description of their terms of sale. You must include information in your Travel Feed that describes the terms of sale, including payment methods and any limitations on availability, black-out dates, and the like, consistent with applicable law.
  12. Privacy Policy. Every Yahoo! Travel Advertiser must post, maintain, and adhere to a privacy policy that complies with all applicable laws. The privacy policy must, among other things, inform customers what personal information is collected and how it is used.
  13. Ethical Marketing Practices. Yahoo! Travel Advertisers must not engage in practices that are in any way connected with the transmission of "junk mail," "spam," "chain letters," unsolicited advertising, or other unsolicited mass distribution of email. Please see the Spam Policy detailed below for more information.
  14. Appropriate Marketing. Yahoo! Travel Advertisers must refrain from providing Travel Offers or related services that are "adult oriented" in nature or marketed in a potentially objectionable manner, as determined in Yahoo!'s sole discretion.
  15. Unfair Practices. Yahoo! Travel Advertisers must not engage in unfair practices, including but not limited to charging excessive service fees or engage in unreasonable or inappropriate practices, such as requiring phone confirmation before delivering documents or tickets, offering one Travel Offer for sale on your website and actually selling or delivering another ("bait and switch"), or requiring purchase of another travel product in addition to the advertised Travel Offer. Yahoo!, at its sole discretion, may determine whether an action constitutes an unfair, unreasonable or inappropriate practice and require that it cease immediately.
  16. Delivery of the Purchased Travel Product. Yahoo! Travel Advertisers must deliver to the buyer the Travel Offer advertised and purchased within a reasonable time period.
  17. Interference. Yahoo! Travel Advertisers must not spam our system and/or impose an unreasonably or disproportionately large load on our system. You must not put any material in your Travel Feed that contains any viruses, trojan horses, worms, time bombs, cancelbots, or other computer programming routines that may damage, interfere with, surreptitiously intercept, or expropriate any system, data, or personal information.
  18. Passwords. Yahoo! Travel Advertisers are solely responsible for actions taken under your password and should not disclose it to anyone else. You cannot use your password for any unauthorized purpose.
  19. Event Tickets. Event tickets may only be sold in accordance with applicable state and local law. All event ticket descriptions must contain the location of the event (venue, city and state), date of the event, and face value of the ticket(s). Yahoo! may restrict the sale to the face value of the ticket(s) and require that Yahoo! Travel Advertisers enter the face value of the ticket(s) as the "Price" for that portion of the Travel Offer. Please read more about our Event Ticket Policy.

Yahoo! Travel Advertisers must not sell the following Travel Offers under any circumstances:

  1. Travel from the United States to any country that is subject to U.S. travel sanctions or restrictions, including but not limited to Cuba, Libya, North Korea and Syria, or travel provided to any individual who appears on the Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) list or other list published by the United States government. Up-to-date information on travel restrictions and sanctions may be obtained from the U.S. Department of Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control.
  2. Travel services provided by or through any person or entity whose participation would violate applicable laws or regulations.
  3. Any Travel Offer that is harmful to minors, obscene, or otherwise objectionable, such as sexual tourism.
  4. Any Travel Offer that promotes, glorifies, or is directly associated with groups or individuals known principally for hateful or violent positions or acts, such as Nazis or the Ku Klux Klan.

Spam Policy

Yahoo! explicitly forbids spamming. Prohibited spam or otherwise impermissible marketing activities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Sending mass email to recipients who haven't requested email from you, and/or sending email with a fake return address.
  2. Promoting your service or store with inappropriate links, titles, descriptions, or use of any content for which you do not have the appropriate rights.
  3. Promoting your service or store by posting multiple submissions in public forums that are identical.

If you're not sure if something constitutes spam, please exercise caution. Yahoo! may take action, at our discretion, if we believe your service or store has engaged in impermissible marketing activities, spamming, or other violations of these Guidelines or any other applicable agreement or terms.
