Use the Account Daily Spending Limit page to specify the amount you want to spend across all campaigns in your account per day.
Understanding the Account Daily Spending Limit
Daily spending limits exist at both the account and campaign levels. After you create a new account in the online sign up process, you have the option to create new campaigns with daily spending limits in the Sponsored Search application. If you choose this option, it is important to understand that the maximum amount that you can spend daily is based on your Account Daily Spending Limit which regulates the amount you can spend on your campaigns. A maximum daily spending value is set at the account level to use for the campaigns you create. Therefore, your Account Daily Spending Limit amount should be at least equal to the highest Campaign Daily Spending Limit.
The following are examples of successful and unsuccessful account settings:
Successful Account Setting: Example #1
Note: The Account Daily Spending limit is equal to the total Campaign Daily Spending Limits.
Successful Account Setting: Example #2
Account Daily Spending Limit = 50
Note: The Account Daily Spending Limit is equal to the highest Campaign Daily Spending Limit.
Unsuccessful Account Setting:
Note: The Account Daily Spending Limit is less than the highest Campaign Daily Spending Limit.
When you set an Account Daily Spending Limit, you can also select the percentage of that amount that you want to allocate to ads running under Content Match. We then use up to that amount when determining how much of your budget to allocate to Content Match. For example, if you specify a $10.00 Account Daily Spending Limit, and select 20% of that amount to be allocated to Content Match, we will then allocate up to $2.00 of the daily budget toward Content Match.
Increase or decrease your Account Daily Spending Limit
You can increase or decrease your Account Daily Spending Limit:
If the accrued daily spend, across all of your campaigns, reaches or exceeds your Account Daily Spending Limit, your account gets turned Off.
If your account has been turned Off because your daily spending limit has been reached, and you set your Account Daily Spending Limit to an amount that is higher than the current accrued daily spend, your account is turned back On, and your ads resume being displayed.
If you set your Account Daily Spending Limit to an amount that is lower than the current accrued daily spend, your account remains Off.
If your account is currently On, and you set your Account Daily Spending Limit to an amount that is lower than the current accrued daily spend, your account is turned Off.
If you set your Account Daily Spending Limit to an amount that is higher than the current accrued daily spend, your account remains On.
If you specifically turn your account Off, it is not turned back On automatically. You can turn it back On by clicking the Accounts tab in the Account General Information area.
If you are running multiple campaigns and decide to set an Account Daily Spending Limit, you should monitor the amount of traffic you are receiving for each campaign relative to its return on ad spend (ROAS). If a high-traffic campaign has a low ROAS, this campaign could cause you to reach Account Daily Spending Limit too soon, halting other campaigns with lower traffic but higher ROAS. You may then need to adjust the campaign daily spending limit or, for campaigns with optimization set to on, the campaign monthly budget.
To help you avoid reaching the Account Daily Spending Limit and having your campaigns halted for the remainder of that day, your ad display may slow as the limit is approached.
