The Targeting section contains the campaign’s targeting settings for demographic bidding, geo-targeting, and ad scheduling. You can edit any of these settings by clicking the target’s corresponding Edit button.
The targeting settings are not available for the campaign if targeting is set at the ad group level. In this case, you must edit the targeting settings for each ad group. You can also change targeting from the ad group level to the campaign level so that you can set targeting preferences for the campaign as a whole.
For each campaign in your account, you can specify whether you want to target at the campaign level or the ad group level. When you target at the campaign level, all ad groups in the campaign use the same targeting preferences set for the campaign. When you target at the ad group level, you can apply specify targeting settings to each ad group in the campaign. You can change the level at which you are targeting.
To change from campaign level targeting to ad group level targeting:
Open the Campaign Settings page.
In the Set Targeting At field, select the Ad Group Level option. A confirmation dialog box opens.
In the confirmation dialog box, select one of the following options:
Apply the campaign’s targeting settings to all of its ad groups. If you select this option, all ad groups in the selected campaign will inherit the targeting settings from the campaign. You can then edit each ad group’s targeting settings individually.
Start from scratch. Your current targeting settings will be lost. If you select this option, you will no longer have targeting settings set for the selected campaign’s ad groups, and all ads in the campaign would be available to prospective customers regardless of location, demographics, and time of day. You can then set targeting preferences for each ad group individually.
Click Save Changes.
To change from ad group level targeting to campaign level targeting:
Open the Campaign Settings page.
In the Set Targeting At field, select the Campaign Level option. A confirmation dialog box opens. When you change to campaign level targeting, all ad groups in the campaign start using the campaign’s targeting settings. This means you will lose all of your individual ad groups targeting settings for the selected campaign.
If you want to continue with the change, click Save Changes in the dialog box.
To delete a campaign:
Open the Campaign Settings page.
Click Delete Campaign. The Delete Campaign dialog box opens.
Click Save Changes to delete your campaign.
Note: To locate deleted campaigns, use Advanced Search, which you can access from the Campaigns page. After opening the Advanced Search popup, select Deleted in the Status field to narrow down search results to only those campaigns that have been deleted.
