Moving and Copying Keywords

You can move keywords from one ad group to another or copy them to a new ad group. This can help you to rearrange ad groups and possibly improve your ad performance. For instance, you may wish to move or copy your keywords into a new ad group that may contain a more relevant ad.

To move keywords:

  1. Click the "Campaigns" tab.
  2. Choose a campaign.
  3. Choose an ad group.
  4. Once you are on the Ad Group Details page, you will see the list of keywords associated with that ad group.
    1. Check the box next to the keyword(s) you want to move.
    2. Then select “Move.”

  5. The "Moving Keywords" window will open to provide information about moving keywords.
  6. Click OK.

  8. Select the destination campaign for the keyword(s) from the left scroll menu.
  9. Select the destination ad group for the keyword(s) from the right scroll menu.
  10. Review the destination ad group details.
  11. Click "Move."

To copy keywords:

  1. Click the "Campaigns" tab.
  2. Choose a campaign.
  3. Choose an ad group.
  4. Once you are on the Ad Group Details page, you will see the list of keywords associated with that ad group.
    1. Check the box next to the keyword(s) you want to copy.
    2. Then select “Move.”
  5. The "Moving Keywords" window will open to provide information about moving keywords.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Select the destination campaign for the keyword(s) from the left scroll menu.
  8. Select the destination ad group for the keyword(s) from the right scroll menu.
  9. Review the destination ad group details.
  10. Check the “Copy Keywords” checkbox.
  11. Click "Move."

  13. Click “Yes” in the Copy Keywords window.

Note: We generally don’t recommend copying keywords within an account, but you might want to do this in specific cases, such as when you want to use the same keywords in ad groups that are in different campaigns.
