Setting Campaign Status

Your Campaign Status indicates whether you have manually “paused” your campaign;, “unpaused” your campaign so its status becomes ‘Active’ again; or, you have deleted your campaign. To set your campaign status1:

  1. Click the Campaigns tab. Once you are on the Campaigns page, you will see a list of campaigns.
  2. Check the box next to the campaign(s) for which you would like to set the status.
    1. Click the “Pause” button if you would like to manually stop the campaigns from running with the option to restart them later.
    2. Click the “Unpause” button if you would like to enable selected campaigns that have been paused.
    3. Click the “Delete” button if you would like to stop the campaign from running and do not intend to restart it later or display the associated ads in the future.
      1. When you delete campaigns, you may
        • view the campaigns and their respective ad groups, ads, and keywords for up to 90 days under the "Campaigns" tab
        • download the campaigns to spreadsheets for up to 90 days.
      2. When you delete campaigns
        • you may NOT restart the campaigns
        • you may NOT edit the deleted campaigns
        • ads in the deleted campaigns' ad groups are not available for display
      3. If you would like to restart any selected campaign(s) in the future, do not delete the campaign(s). Instead, set the Campaign Status to ‘Paused’.

The table below displays all available status options for Campaigns in your account.

If your Campaign status is... This means...
Active The campaign is running and displaying ads
Paused The campaign is not currently running ads, but may be edited and reactivated
Deleted The campaign is not able to run ads, and is not available to be edited or reactivated
Incomplete You did not finish the campaign creation process. Incomplete campaigns require you to complete them before the campaign can display ads.
Scheduled You set a schedule for your campaign to determine how long your campaign will run and you set the length of time that you want your ads displayed. The campaign will stop displaying ads when the end date has been reached.
Expired Your campaign has expired because your scheduled end date has been reached. You campaign will not run ads after the end date you specify.
