Yahoo! Search Marketing Sign-in Seal

‘Phishing’ and Your Yahoo! Search Marketing Account

As much as the Internet is a wonderful mix of useful content and grass roots communities, not everyone on the web is seeking to do right by you. In fact, there are ‘phishers’ who are actually out there to do you harm.

Phishers are internet predators out to deceptively lure you to their bogus websites. You’ve been ‘phished’ when a fraudulent company sends you a counterfeit communication claiming a need for your password and/or personal information (Reminder: Under no circumstances will we e-mail you to request password information). This fake communication may direct you to a phony site. The site may appear real and may even carry the logo or brand of a real company. Entering your password and personal account information into this imitation website makes you a target for account and identity theft, and a potential victim of phishing.

Protect Your Search Marketing Account with a Yahoo! Sign-in Seal

You can help protect yourself from phishing directed at your Yahoo! Search Marketing account with a sign-in seal. A sign-seal is a custom message or picture accompanied by a background color of your choosing. We display this seal within the account login panel every time you log into an authentic Yahoo! Search Marketing site from the computer you use to access your Yahoo! Search Marketing account. Don’t see the sign-in seal on the computer you use to log in? This alerts you that you may have landed on a phishing site and you should not enter your personal information (There may be other reasons you don’t see your sign-in seal. Click to learn more.).

Creating a sign-in seal is easy, free and we’ve made it readily accessible with a page link at the bottom of your search marketing account login panel. Just click on the Prevent Password Theft link to be directed to the sign-in seal creation page.

Some things to remember as you create your sign-in seal:

  • Text seals may include up to 21 characters
  • Image seals allow you to upload a picture from your computer. The image should be: easily viewed in a small size (close-ups work best); .gif, .jpeg or .jpg format; and 2MB or less in size

The seal will display whenever you log into any Yahoo! Search Marketing account from the computer where you created your sign-in seal. You may change your seal at any time, as well as create a seal for every computer you use to access your account(s).
