How do I upload my product feed?

Special note for Yahoo! Store, Merchant Solutions, and ProStore Customers: You do not need to upload a feed—your product details will be automatically retrieved from your updated catalog.

You can upload your product feed in two different ways:

  • Upload your file through your browser. You can only upload your product feed through your browser if your file is less than 50MB. This option is recommended if you do not plan to automate the transmission of your product feed.
  • Upload your file through File Transfer Protocol (FTP) servers. If your file is over 50MB, you MUST upload your file through FTP. This option is also recommended if you plan to automate the transmission of your product feed. Several popular FTP programs are available at www.cnet.com and www.wsftp.com.

To access Yahoo!'s FTP server, use the following information:

Server:ftp.productsubmit.adcentral.yahoo.com
Username:Enter your Yahoo! ID.
Password:Enter the password for your Yahoo! ID.
Filename:data.txt
Directory:/[Your merchant ID number]
Mode:ASCII (passive)
Note: Most FTP servers work in "passive" mode, since it makes it easier for you to upload a file, even when you are behind a firewall. To simplify the upload process, Yahoo!'s FTP server follows this standard and can only accept passive transfers.

Yahoo! checks for new files every 15 minutes.

Note: If you have self-categorized your products, you must complete Step 1 of the "Upload Products" process to let us know about your choice. If you do not complete this step, your products will be auto-categorized by default.
