To participate in Local Listings, a business must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • The listing must be for a business based in the United States.
  • The business must operate a physical store location or service a local region.
  • The categorization provided for the business must be appropriate.
  • The website provided for the business must be functional.
  • Each business can only be submitted once. Duplicate or substantially similar listings will not be accepted.
  • In order to qualify for the program, the business must provide either a web site for the business or detailed information about the business, such as hours of operation, credit cards accepted, and other information that is valuable to the user. The business can also provide both a web site and detailed information about the business.
  • The web site for the listing, if any, must be in the English language with the official business name visible to any visitor to that site.
  • The web site for the listing, if any, must not contain any content, products, services or other information that, in Yahoo!'s reasonable determination may be illegal to sell under any applicable law, statute, ordinance or regulation, that may infringe or violate anyone's rights, or that, Yahoo! believes, in its sole discretion, is inflammatory, offensive, or otherwise inconsistent with the spirit of the Service.

These criteria are minimum requirements only, and Yahoo!, in its sole discretion, may consider other criteria before accepting the submission.
