You need to know the name of the place you want to see in the map: an address or the name of a street, city, state, province, or country.
It's not necessary to make a list of locations, although it's helpful if you want to get driving directions on a regular basis. These locations can be as specific as a street address. In a browser, sign in to Yahoo! Maps, click the down arrowhead for the A or B location, and click Save/Edit Locations in the list that opens. This opens the Location Preference page where you can add the locations you usually start out from. In the main Yahoo! Maps page, you can set your most frequent starting point as the default location.
