Any mini program that runs on the Yahoo! Widgets application is a Yahoo! Widget. These programs can be authored by anyone—yes, you! You can keep your Widget to yourself or submit it to Yahoo! Widgets for evaluation and, if possible, publication in the Yahoo! Widget Gallery.

Widgets "built by Yahoo!" are specifically those Widgets authored by Yahoo! programmers for everyone's use. Some of these Widgets are in the starter set, and some are in the Yahoo! Widget Gallery.
