What are Preferences in Yahoo! Widgets?

The Yahoo! Widgets Preferences window has tabs for general settings, dock settings, and advanced settings. After you change a setting, click Save.

General

Heads Up Display Click this box and press a key to change the Heads Up Display hot key.
Select Use Simple Background in Heads Up Display if your computer's performance is degraded by this feature.
Consolidate Widgets Select this item to move the files for any opened Widget into My Documents\My Widgets.
Launch Yahoo! Widgets at startup Select or clear this item to remove or place a startup shortcut in your startup folder.

Dock

Auto Hide Creates a zone along the edge of the desktop where you can move the cursor to open the dock. Otherwise, the dock is hidden, making desktop space more available.
Always on top Note that this feature does not resize other windows.
Play sounds Note that the sounds themselves are not configurable.
Dock Positions

Screen places the dock in the chosen monitor of the extended desktop.
Side places the dock in one of four edges of the monitor.
Position aligns the dock on the edge in one of three ways: either extreme or the center.

Advanced

Proxy Settings The No proxy option should be used when you want traffic to go directly to the Internet.
The Use IE proxy settings option detects proxy settings required by your network, if applicable, and uses them without your needing to set them. This is the initial option.
The Use specific proxy option when you know what the proxy is and you don't want to use IE proxy settings. If you are using Mozilla Firefox, for example, you might want to use this option.
Language Select System Default or one of the 16 languages.
Automatically check for Widget updates Select or clear to have Yahoo! Widgets seek or ignore updates to Yahoo! Widgets or the Yahoo! Widgets application.
