For Yahoo! Widgets, a Widget author can attach a signature to a Widget. This signature is a secure way to tell you who built the Widget.

The first time you run a Widget, Yahoo! Widgets will tell you if a Widget has been signed by its author. If the signature is "Verified" the application has made sure that the signature is authentic.

Note: Widgets signed by Yahoo! Inc. are automatically trusted by the Yahoo! Widgets application, and so there is not a notice message when you run an official Yahoo! built Widget.
