What if I'm accessing Yahoo! Video through a firewall?

If you access the Internet through a firewall or proxy server, you will need to make the following changes.

Note: If you are accessing Yahoo! Video from a corporate network, and you don't have your proxy server information, we suggest you check with your company's IS department for information on the proxy server you may need to use to view Yahoo! Video content.

Windows Media Player 7 or higher

  1. Open Windows Media Player.
  2. On the menu bar, select "Tools" and scroll down to "Options."
  3. In Options, select the "Network" tab.
  4. Under Protocols, if HTTP is not checked, try checking it (it should be the last Protocol you try enabling).
  5. Then click "OK" to close this window, and "OK" again to close the Options window.
  6. If this still does not help your situation, we suggest you ask your company's IS department to open ports 1755 and 554 for TCP and UDP outgoing connections. This will provide you with the best possible streaming experience.

RealOne Player

  1. Open the RealOne player.
  2. On the menu bar, select "Tools" and then scroll down to "Preferences."
  3. In the Preferences window, select the + icon next to Connection.
  4. Select the "Network Transports" option.
  5. Click the "RTSP Settings" button.
  6. Under RTSP Transport Settings, if "Attempt to use HTTP" is not checked, try checking it (it should be the last Protocol you try enabling).
  7. Click "OK."
  8. Click the "PNA Settings" button.
  9. Under PNA Transport Settings, if "Attempt to use HTTP" is not checked, try checking it (it should be the last protocol you try enabling).
  10. Click "OK" and then click "OK" again.
  11. If this still does not help your situation, we suggest you ask your company's IS department to open ports 1755 and 554 for TCP and UDP outgoing connections. This will provide you with the best possible streaming experience.
