How do I change the bit rate of the content I am watching?

Most of the content in Yahoo! Video is available in 56k, 100k, 300k, and 700k bitrates. Some of our newer content is available at 1.2mb bitrate. Your bit rate is automatically calculated for you each time you use Yahoo! Video based on the current speed of your Internet connection.

However, Internet connection speeds change constantly. If your connection becomes congested (e.g., in a busy office or other home PCs are on the Internet), you may wish to change the bitrate of the videos you are receiving at your system.

On the player, in the upper left-hand section is the "Preferences" link. Clicking it will present you with the different bandwidth options available. Selecting a lower bitrate than the currently displayed bitrate will restart the video at a lower bandwidth setting.
