Why did I receive a paper ticket when I specified electronic ticketing?

On occasion, the airline's reservation system might be down or unable to accept an electronic ticket order. When this occurs, a paper ticket is issued to protect your quoted fare. A paper ticket cannot be converted to an electronic ticket after being issued.
