Can I standby for a flight?

We understand that there are times when passengers prefer to "standby" for a flight other than their scheduled flight. However, to comply with new Federal security rules, many airlines might not allow customers to standby for an alternate flight. This effort is part of the airlines' continuing commitment to the security of their customers.

  • If you've "checked luggage," you may not standby for a flight. Heightened airport security requires "bag-matching" whereby baggage is matched to its passenger on originating flights.
  • If you've unchecked luggage, please check with the individual airline directly for information about its standby policy.

Please note: Many airlines do not offer standby fares. You need to inquire with the airline directly.
