Why is there a Yahoo! menu on the menu bar of my browser?

As part of the continuing effort to make Yahoo!'s products accessible to people with diverse use requirements (screen readers, voice control, keyboard-only access, etc.), Yahoo! Toolbar now provides access to its features through the standard menu of the Mozilla Firefox browser. This approach ensures simple, quick access to the shortcuts and services provided by the Yahoo! Toolbar.

In addition, some Yahoo! Toolbar users prefer to hide the toolbar to save screen space. This menu allows access to all the toolbar functionality using the smallest possible screen space.

Using the toolbar

There are two ways in which the Yahoo! menu can be accessed in addition to using the mouse:

  1. Press the ALT key to focus on the menu bar.
  2. Press the Y key to open the Yahoo! menu.
  3. Use standard navigation methods to browse through Yahoo! menu options.

Or

  1. Press ALT+Y to open Yahoo! menu.
  2. Use standard navigation methods to browse through the toolbar's options.

Removing Yahoo! menu from the menu bar

Note: Adding the Yahoo! menu back after you've removed it requires a mouse. If you don't have a mouse, we recommend you leave the Yahoo! menu on your menu bar. If you don't want to see Yahoo! menu in your browser menu bar, there are two ways you can remove it:

  1. Press ALT+Y to open the Y! toolbar menu.
