The Average User Rating is a simple average of all posted ratings for that product.

Yahoo! Tech uses average ratings on its Resource Centers, or pages on the site where you can find information on a specific category. At the top of many of the Resource Centers, there is a set of the top-rated products based on Yahoo! users ratings' and reviews'. The set of product results displayed take into account the mostly highly-rated products, as well as how many reviews have been written about each particular product. The goal is to give you the best snapshot of what Yahoo! users collectively think are the leading products in a given category. Remember, by adding your own ratings and reviews, you are making the results better for everyone.

Not every Resource Center on Yahoo! Tech displays top-rated products by users because some pages offer top product picks from our content partners, such Consumer Reports, instead.
