In the My Tech area on the right-hand column across the site, there is a section called “Gadgets You Might Like.” You will see a list of popular products among Yahoo! Tech readers. These products change over time and include products our advisors, staff, and audience are giving a thumbs-up.
If you’re signed in to the Yahoo! network, you’ll get a different set of products in your My Tech column. These product recommendations are personalized just for you, based on your previous browsing history. Wondering what browsing history we are talking about? Specifically, we focus on your most recent activity on the site related to products. So if you’ve looked a few digital cameras, we’ll show you some digital camera recommendations. Clicking on laptops? They’ll be added to the mix. Your most recent browsing activity is displayed below the “Gadgets You Might Like” section and called “Recently Viewed” and “Recent Searches.”
There is one other place where gadget recommendations will show up -- on the product pages, where information about an individual gadget is displayed. If you are trying to decide what product to purchase, these are a handy and quick was to see what other similar gadgets are available.
Currently, this feature is in beta, meaning that we are still working on improving the recommendations and adding functionality. Soon you’ll be able to edit your preferences and manage the recommendations you get in a more hands-on way.
