What are my default meta tags?

When you publish your site with Site Solution, we use your page content and site settings to create a title and meta tags for each of your pages. This information can help search engines better understand your site and may improve your chances of appearing in search results.

Important: Please note that while Yahoo! can help you put your best foot forward to search engines, we cannot guarantee your site's placement in search results — or that it will be listed (indexed) at all.

Your default meta tags:

title The title tag for each of your pages includes your business name and the page title. Your initial page title will be the same as the name of the page (which appears in both the page's web address and in your site menu), but you can change your page title anytime. If your page doesn't have a title, we'll use the name of the page, which also appears in your site menu (navigation bar).

description Your page description will include up to 256 characters of your page content (the text in the body of your page). We'll start in the first main editable area of your page, so try to put your most important content at the top!
keywords The keywords for each page include your business name, business category, and business address, if available. You can change your business name, category, or address anytime by clicking the Site Settings link in your Site Solution toolbar (in the upper-right corner of your screen).

Remember that your meta tags vary by page. To see what your own meta tags look like, view the source of your page by selecting Source or Page Source from your browser's View menu. Your page's source will open in a new window, with your meta tags (labeled TITLE, DESCRIPTION, and KEYWORDS) near the top of the page.
