Why doesn't my image look good after I change my layout?

When you add a large image to a content area on your page, Yahoo! Site Solution will automatically resize it to fit into that area.

However, Site Solution will change the size of your image only once, when you add it. If you switch layouts, and the area that contains your image is narrower in the new layout, your image may not fit. The image may simply be too big for its new layout.

When the image is too big, you may see that the borders of the editable areas on your page overlap, the areas appear shifted in strange ways, or the layout of the page appears otherwise broken.

To fix this problem, you might try another layout or move the image to a new location. But you can also simply change the size of your image to fit in the new layout.

To change the size of an image:

  1. Click on the image once to activate its location for editing, then click on the image again to select it. (When the image is selected, you'll see small squares appear on its border.)

  2. Click on one of the squares on the image's border.

  3. Holding down the button of your mouse, drag the square until your image reaches the desired size.

  4. Let go of your mouse.

Hint: To avoid distorting your image, click and drag the corner of the image inward or outward. Moving the corner instead of one side of the image will help you preserve the ratio of the image's height and width, so the only change to your picture is its overall size.
