Can I have my domain name appear when using SSL?

Yahoo! does not currently provide an SSL connection for individual domain names; instead we'll assign you space on one of our secure SSL servers. When someone visits an SSL-protected page in your site, he'll be redirected to this shared server at a web address that includes the server name assigned to you, plus your own domain, like this:

https://s.p2.hostingprod.com/@widgetdesigns.com or
https://p12.secure.hostingprod.com/@widgetdesigns.com

The page will be encrypted and secure.

The s in https is the secure version of the http protocol, which uses SSL to transport data between systems. The next part of the address (s.p2.hostingprod.com or p12.secure.hostingprod.com) represents Yahoo!'s SSL secure server.

Please note that the name of the server assigned to your domain may vary. To locate the exact address of the SSL server you'll be using, visit the Manage tab of your Web Hosting Control Panel, and click the "SSL Secure Server" link. Here you'll find SSL setup instructions and server information specific to your account.

Advanced users: If you want your domain name to appear in the browser's address field, you can create an HTML frameset that references your secure pages. The address of the frameset (which can contain your domain name), rather than the shared server address, will appear in the browser's address field. Please be advised that although the data contained in the frameset will be secure, the frameset itself is not, so your site visitors will not see the lock in the browser indicating that a secure connection has been established.

You might also provide access to your secure directory by setting up a subdomain that redirects to your secure SSL directory, like this:

http://secure.widgetdesigns.com
