Having trouble installing SiteBuilder on your computer? These troubleshooting tips may help.
System Requirements
If you're having trouble installing SiteBuilder on your computer, your computer may not meet SiteBuilder's system requirements. Please see our system requirements page for more information.
(Please note that at this time, Yahoo! SiteBuilder is compatible only with Windows operating systems.)
Microsoft Vista
If you are using Microsoft Vista, be sure you are signed in to your computer as an administrator. Due to rigid security measures built in to your operating system, you will not be able to install SiteBuilder successfully without administrator privileges.
(Note that after SiteBuilder is installed, you can run the program as a non-administrator only if you turn on Vista's User Account Control feature.)
Please see your computer's documentation for more information on signing in as an administrator.
Java Errors
Some of our users have reported encountering an error related to the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) when trying to install the latest version of SiteBuilder. Java is a programming language used to create the SiteBuilder application; the JRE allows SiteBuilder to run on your computer. Occasionally the JRE installation tool cannot download the files it needs to complete installation, resulting in an error.
If you experience a JRE error when trying to install SiteBuilder, we recommend reinstalling Java and starting the SiteBuilder installation again.

Errors Opening SiteBuilder the First Time
If you see an error when you try to open SiteBuilder for the first time, one of your installation files may have hit a snag. Generally you can fix this problem by deleting the problem file(s) and installing SiteBuilder again.

Upgrading
If your version of SiteBuilder is older than version 2.2, you will need to upgrade by downloading a new version of SiteBuilder rather than using the standard update process. Downloading will simply copy the updates to your computer, replacing your old version of SiteBuilder while leaving all of your work and your web site intact. Please visit our SiteBuilder download page to get started. (Note that you will be able to use the standard update process for future upgrades, and that Yahoo! SiteBuilder remains a free tool. There is no charge for upgrading.)
