You can add a PayPal Buy Now Button to any of your pages to allow your site visitors to purchase individual items with PayPal.
Please note that each button you create will be associated with a single item. You can add this button to as many pages of your site as you like (anywhere you want to make the individual item available for purchase). However, for each additional item you'd like to make available for purchase through PayPal, you will need to create an additional button. For example, if you plan to sell a green sweater and a blue T-shirt, you will need to complete the steps below to create a separate button for each.
To add a PayPal Buy Now Button to your web page:
- From the Insert menu, choose PayPal Buttons, then Buy Now.
- Begin entering the button properties in the PayPal Buy Now Properties dialog. The information you enter here will be sent to PayPal to provide the foundation of this item's designated PayPal transaction page. Learn more about the fields.
- Click the General tab, if it's not already selected.
- In the first form field, enter the email address to which you want payments to be sent. If you already have a PayPal account, be sure to enter the email address associated with that account here; if you do not yet have an account, sign up now and enter the associated email address here. This field is required.
- Enter the item name in the corresponding field.
- Enter the item ID, code, or SKU, if applicable, in the "Item ID" field.
- Add the item price and choose the currency in which the price should be listed from the corresponding pull-down menu.
- Enter the shipping price for each item in the "Shipping" field.
- If you charge a handling fee per order, enter that charge in the "Handling" field.
- From the Button: field, choose the PayPal button you'd like to use on your site.
- For additional item options, click the Advanced tab. You'll see several more fields you may complete if you'd like to associate additional information with your item. (If you don't want to enter additional options, click OK.)
- If you'd like to use your own transaction confirmation page, select A Page in My Site or Another Web Site from the pull-down menu provided, then choose a page in your site or enter the URL (web address) of another confirmation page in the Confirmation page field.
- If you'd like to use your own transaction cancellation page, select A Page in My Site or Another Web Site from the pull-down menu provided, then choose a page in your site or enter the URL (web address) of another cancellation page in the Cancellation page field.
- If you'd like your customer to be able to send you a note with his payment, select Accept note from the pull-down menu next to Accept note from buyer? If you don't want a message field to appear, choose Don't accept note.
- If you chose to enable a message field in the previous field, enter a title for this field next to Title of note.
- If you'd like to brand the PayPal transaction page with your own logo, select the image of the logo using by clicking the Browse... button and choosing an image from your site. Be sure your image does not exceed 150 pixels in width or 50 pixels in height.
- Decide whether you'd like your customer to provide a shipping address by selecting an option from the Shipping address pull-down menu.
- If you'd like to make it possible for your customers to purchase more than one of this individual item, choose Allow multiple purchase from the last pull-down menu. To allow your customers to purchase only one of this item at a time, choose Don't allow multiple purchase.
- Click the Coordinates tab to alter the location or size of the form on your web page. To change its position on the page along the X and Y axes, change the values in the corresponding fields. You can change the form's width and height by modifying the values in the Width and Height fields.
- Click OK.
Once you have added the button to your page, you can position it just as you'd work with similar elements on your page. Learn more about positioning page elements.
Note: Remember that the PayPal button you create will be associated with a single item. You can copy this button for use with the same item on other pages, but you must create a new button (with distinct properties) for each new item.
