When you installed SiteBuilder on your computer, you gained access to not only a powerful site building application but also a collection of templates and clip art.

Templates are page designs that you can use as the foundation for your own web site design. Template pages generally include a background image or color, a distinct area in which you can place your navigation bar, images, and sample content (only a blank template page will not include sample content). You can edit every element of a template page just as you'd customize a blank page. Learn how to edit a page.

Template pages provide a convenient way to create a unified look for your web site. When you use the Site Creation Wizard to create a site, you'll be able to choose a template style and create as many pages from that template group as you like (a home page, "About Us" page, and "Contact Us" page, for example). Later you can add more pages — using the same template, a new one, or no template at all — and customize or remove the pages you already created. Learn more about working with pages.

To speed your initial download and installation of SiteBuilder, we have included only a portion of the complete set of templates and clip art available. You can see which templates you have downloaded to your computer whenever you are given the option to choose a template page, in either the Site Creation Wizard or the Add New Page dialog.

After you choose a template category, you'll see at the top of the Templates field the total number of templates in that category as well as the number you have already downloaded. Individual templates you have downloaded will also be accompanied in the Templates field by a checkmark.

If you'd like to use a template you have not yet downloaded, first make sure that you have a connection to the Internet, then choose to preview the template or simply choose Next (in the wizard) or Add Page (in the Add New Page dialog). If you have not yet downloaded this template, SiteBuilder will prompt you to download it.

Each template includes several useful pages (such as a home page, blank page, and "About Us" page) with a consistent design, as well as any clip art that might be associated with those pages. You can download more templates and associated clip art anytime.

If you'd like to download all available templates and clip art at once, select "Download All Templates" in the "Tools" menu or click the Download All Templates icon in the SiteBuilder toolbar.
