How do I set up my database?

Before you can begin using MySQL with your plan, you will need to set up a database for your account. If you install a tool that requires a MySQL database, such as an advanced add-on, your database will be set up automatically. To set up your own MySQL database:

  1. On the Create & Update or Index tabs of your Web Hosting Control Panel, click the "MySQL Database" link.

Create and Update Tab: MySQL Database Link
Create & Update Tab: MySQL Database Link

  2. Select the "Create User Name and Password Now" link.

  4. Enter a database administrator user name and password. (Choose a user name carefully, as you will not be able to change it later. Be sure to make a note of your user name and password; you'll need this information when you set up a tool that uses your database.) Then, click the Submit button.

Your database, called mysql, will be created automatically. Please do not modify or delete this database, which you will use to administrate your MySQL database environment. Once you have set up your database, we recommend that you install phpMyAdmin, a powerful database management tool. Learn how to install phpMyAdmin.
