You can remove the Movable Type software package anytime from your Blog Manager using the "Deactivate" link.
Important: If you choose to deactivate your blog, your Movable Type software and any files associated with this blog will be removed from your site (other Movable Type activations on your site will remain intact). Your blog archives and certain other pages will remain intact; however, you will no longer be able to modify your blog, and if you made your blog your home page, your visitors will no longer be able to view it.
If you're having a problem with your Movable Type software but wish to keep your blog data, do not choose the "Deactivate" option. Learn more about troubleshooting software issues.
To deactivate your Movable Type software:
- Sign in to your Web Hosting Control Panel.
- Visit the Manage tab.
- In the first module, click the "Blog Manager" link.
- On the following page, locate the module that corresponds with the installation you want to uninstall.
- Click the "Deactivate" link.
- On the following page, you'll be asked to confirm that you want to deactivate your Movable Type software. Click "Deactivate" to continue, or choose "Cancel" to return to your Blog Manager.
To delete a blog without uninstalling your Movable Type software:
- Sign in to your Web Hosting Control Panel.
- Visit the Manage tab.
- In the first module, click the "Blog Manager" link.
- On the following page, locate the module that corresponds with the blog you want to delete.
- Click the "View blog control panel" link. You'll be asked to sign in to your Movable Type control panel if you haven't already done so.
- Click the "Weblogs" link in the "System Shortcuts" menu on the right side of your control panel.
- You'll see a list of all of the blogs associated with this Movable Type account. Click the checkbox next to the blog(s) you want to delete.
- Click the "Delete" button to permanently delete the selected blog(s). You'll be asked to confirm that you want to delete the blog(s). Click "OK" to complete the deletion.
