How do I use FTP to view my files?

When you connect to your Web Hosting account with your FTP tool, you'll see a display of the folders and files in your web site (your remote site). Generally this display will look a lot like the files and folders on your computer (your local site). You can open folders and review your file organization the same way you'd look through files on your computer.

Most FTP tools also allow you to view the contents of a file. On a PC, you can usually click on the file name once with the right button of your mouse and select "View" or a similar option from the menu that appears. On a Mac you may see a "View" option or simply open the file by double-clicking on it, just as you would open any file on your computer.

Check your own tool's documentation for detailed instructions on viewing files, or learn more about recommended tools.
