How do I download files?

FTP
FTP is a quick way to save your pages that also prevents you from accidentally downloading any code that doesn't belong to your pages (code from a Yahoo! page, for example) and allows you to copy not only your web pages but also your images, audio clips, and other files. Learn more about FTP.

Copy your page code manually using File Manager.
This option will allow you to back up the code used to create your web pages; it will not, however, enable you to copy your images and other site assets, and the process will take significantly more time than downloading your pages with FTP.

  1. In the Create & Update, Manage, or Index tab of your Web Hosting Control Panel, click the "File Manager" link.
  2. Select the file you wish to back up.
  3. Click on the "Edit" button at the top of your File Manager.
  4. Highlight all of the code on the page, then select "Copy" from the "Edit" menu of your browser's toolbar.
  5. Open a text editor on your computer (such as Notepad, Wordpad, or Simple Text).
  6. Select "Paste" from the "Edit" menu of your the text editor toolbar. All of the code from your file in your File Manager should appear in this file.
  7. Select "File" and then "Save as" in your text editor toolbar.
  8. Use the "Look in" field to navigate to the folder on your computer in which you want to save the file.
  9. In the "File Name", enter a name for your file with the extension .html (for example, yourfile.html). We recommend giving the file the same name as its mirror in your File Manager
  10. Next to "Save as type," select "All file types."
  11. Click "Save."

You can repeat this process for each file you want to back up. We recommend that you keep a backup of all of your files on your own computer.
