How do I create my own home page?

Your home page is the main page of your web site, the page your site visitors will see when they go to your domain, such as http://www.yourdomain.com. The Yahoo! home page, for example, appears at http://www.yahoo.com.

The file that generates this default web page (often called the index page) when you create your site with Yahoo! Web Hosting is called "index.html." A site visitor can see your home page when he enters either http://www.yourdomain.com or http://www.yourdomain.com/index.html in the address bar of his web browser.

We automatically created an "Under Construction" home page for you at your web address when you signed up for your plan. To replace this "Under Construction" page with a home page of your own design, you can use one of our Yahoo! tools or a site building tool you already own, such as FrontPage or Dreamweaver.

Learn how to get started building your web site.

When you build your own web site or page using a Yahoo! tool, your home page will be named "index.html" automatically and replace the "Under Construction" page we created for you. Be sure you do not change the name of this file, or your new home page will not display at your domain. If you create your home page using a third-party tool, be sure to name your main page "index.html." Learn more.
