Making CVV a Required Field for Checkout

If you select this option, the CVV field will be a required field that customers must enter to complete the checkout process. If the "CVV Required" checkbox is not checked, customers can choose to enter or not to enter the CVV number in this field during checkout.

To make CVV a required field:

  1. From the Store Manager, click "Risk Tools".
  2. Click "Settings".
  3. Select the "Yes , make CVV Required on checkout" checkbox.
  4. Click [Update].
  5. Click the "Store Manager" link.
  6. Click "Publish Order Settings" to make your changes live on your site.

Note: You must have your online payment processing set to perform real-time authorizations in order to use AVS and CVV Rules to flag orders based on response codes as part of Risk Tools. Without real-time authorization, Risk Tools cannot check the address and card verification value provided by customers during checkout. View instructions for enabling real-time authorization of orders.

Your customers will then need to supply a card security number when using Visa, MasterCard, or Discover as their payment option in order to submit their order. The number entered by the customer will then be checked using the CVV Rules you have set for your store and the order will be accepted, or "flagged" with a "pending review" status.

Note: Yahoo! provides Risk Tools to Yahoo! Store merchants for informational purposes only and does not represent or warrant that merchant use of Risk Tools will reduce or eliminate fraudulent or bad credit or debit card transactions initiated by their store customers.
