These release notes contain a brief list of feature and service changes associated with the October release.

What's New

This release features service changes to UPS OnLine® Tools including UPS Tools for checkout available to Merchant Solutions Starter merchants, export to UPS WorldShip available to Merchant Solutions Standard merchants, a new Import Tracking Number tool for merchants shipping with UPS WorldShip, and Shipping Manager available for use by Yahoo! Store merchants. This release also addresses numerous issues with the beta release of Checkout Manager.

UPS

  • UPS OnLine Tools for Yahoo! Store merchants
    • Shipping—Print shipping labels and automatically update orders with tracking numbers directly within Order Manager.
    • Address Validation—Ensures that city, state and postal code combinations are valid when orders are placed to reduce the risk of package delays and additional costs to merchants.
    • Time in Transit—Helps merchants and customers compare the delivery speed of different UPS shipping services.
    • Rate & Service Selection—Lets buyers compare rates and select UPS services that best fit their needs during the checkout process.

  • Export to UPS WorldShip available to Merchant Solutions Standard and Yahoo! Store merchants. Learn more.
  • Import Tracking Number feature for merchants using UPS WorldShip—merchants exporting orders to UPS WorldShip can now import tracking numbers using a .csv file from WorldShip to batch update order status. Learn more.
  • UPS Tools for checkout available to Merchant Solutions Starter merchants—merchants can enable Address Validation, Time in Transit, and Rates & Service Selection Tools in checkout. Learn more.
  • Changes to Reference fields—Changes were needed with the UPS Reference Fields in support of the Import Tracking Number feature. Learn more about changes to reference fields. Learn more.
  • UPS Unavailable Error handling—If UPS Servers are unavailable during checkout to calculate real-time shipping charges, merchants can now choose whether to ask the buyer to select another shipping method or inform the buyer that shipping and tax may be added later. Learn more.

Checkout Manager

Checkout Manager Beta Release (phase 2) 10/03/2005

During the second phase of the Checkout Manager Beta release, you can now enable Checkout Manager so shoppers can use your custom checkout pages. Yahoo! strongly recommends merchants only enable after reviewing the known issues and after thoroughly testing their custom checkout pages.

Checkout Manager is still considered a "beta release". Given the importance of the checkout process, merchants are advised to test prior to enabling the system and to actively monitor checkout after enabling for any potential issues that may be undetermined as of yet. You can choose to disable Checkout Manager and return to your previous checkout process if you encounter problems.

NOTE ABOUT UPCOMING CHANGES
With the upcoming release in early November, custom checkout pages created in Checkout Manager will be updated to be more flexible in terms of using CSS for layout rather than tables. This change is the best long-term approach and offers the most flexibility to merchants and store designers. It does however mean that CSS customizations you make between now and the next release will need to be reapplied as the HTML or CSS ID/class names change due to the revised design.

At the end of the beta testing phase you will be required to re-download our standard CSS template and reapply your customizations.

Resolved Issues

This release addresses many known issues with Checkout Manager (Beta) and also other miscellaneous issues.

Checkout Manager Resolved issues

Tracking ID Issues Description
463159 RESOLVED: Pricing discrepancies appeared in the shopping cart when merchants used parenthesis in Options field where information interpreted as incremental pricing. Now, the shopping cart only looks for (+#) or (-#) where "#" represents the incremental/decremental pricing.
465495 RESOLVED: All CVV Response codes displayed after processing a sale were incorrectly listed as (P) Code Not Processed.
414160 RESOLVED: The cursor does not change to a hand for secondary CSS buttons (Apply, Edit, Update).
441432 RESOLVED: Tax not added to orders when state name is spelled in full ( for example, Pennsylvania for PA).
422650 RESOLVED: Related item (cross-sell) item images may not show up correctly when the cart is set to secure in the Store Editor.
423575 RESOLVED: Buyers may see an error message for invalid zip code when the following conditions are met:
  1. Merchant has selected default list of countries for Foreign Orders.
  2. Buyer enters a postal code outside the US.
  3. Buyer selects "UPS Worldwide Express" as shipping option.
419761 RESOLVED: The Order Status page has minor layout issues related to the "Track" button when using UPS Online Tools.
386385 RESOLVED: The Shipping Calculator truncates postal codes at 5 digits (US locations only accepted). No error message displayed.
417334 RESOLVED: Buyers see an error message that shipping option not available on the Shipping page when all of the following conditions are met:
  1. Merchants has selected the default list of countries in the Foreign Orders page
  2. Merchants choose to display the Shipping Calculator in the shopping cart page
  3. Buyer does not select a country in the Shipping Calculator (Argentina selected by default)
411551 RESOLVED: No UPS disclaimer should display on shopping cart when shipping calculator not enabled.
414292 RESOLVED: The UPS disclaimer for price is displayed even when a UPS rate is not selected.
411435 RESOLVED: Tax and shipping charges not calculated on the shopping cart page if the state field in Shipping Calculator not completed.
431365 RESOLVED: Buyers see Options in the Shopping Cart showing X and Y coordinates when using images for "Order" buttons. Buyers may also see "item could not be added to cart" error when using images for order buttons and Items Options Validation set to "not allow items with invalid options".
432294 RESOLVED: Buyers will see an incorrect price for selected item(s) with options under the following conditions:
  1. Merchant has set up one or more items with options that have incremental pricing where incremental price is less than $1 and…
  2. Merchant has entered value incremental option pricing without a zero prior to the decimal point, for example (+$.99).

In the example above, a buyer selecting the item and option would see the item price plus $99.00 rather than $0.99.

446936 RESOLVED: Inconsistency in color picker implementation.
378269 RESOLVED: Web Loyalty may not be displayed correctly on the Order Confirmation page; appears at the top of the page.
414750 RESOLVED: Custom settings for primary and secondary checkout buttons are not preserved when switching from global styles to default and back.
442452 RESOLVED: Updating quantity not allowed if required fields blank in single page checkout.
433225 RESOLVED: Cross-sell text for custom checkout pulled from Cross-sell Manager, not Store Editor.
431397 RESOLVED: Merchants, regardless of package (Merchant Solutions or Store), will see "Merchant Solutions" after their Store ID in the blue bar at the top of page within Checkout Manager.
417834 RESOLVED: Country field reverts to US after clicking "Apply" in Shipping Calculator in the Shopping Cart.
305939 RESOLVED: Order is not marked as pending review when auto charge is turned on.
438764 RESOLVED: Automatically convert the fully spelled US state names to their abbreviations for the Shipping & Billing Pages.
434524 RESOLVED: CVV entry field should be hidden from checkout pages when Risk Tools are disabled.
419366 RESOLVED: Click Trails are not visible for individual orders placed in custom checkout pages.
442385 RESOLVED: Preview shows both Gift Option and Gift Message when either one is enabled.
428133 RESOLVED: State field values should be disabled and based on shipping rules.
439588 RESOLVED: Change "Preview" to "Save & Preview" to resolve confusion around actions.
446075 RESOLVED: The first selection of the US state drop-down list should be a "---".
