You must insert a small piece of code into your product detail pages before Cross-Sell will function. You may add this code to all of your product detail pages, or to selected product detail pages only. This code will work together with JavaScript that we have previously added into your store pages.

Product detail page cross-sell code can be downloaded from the Product Detail Display Options page in Cross-Sell Manager, once you've configured your display settings (Figure 1). You may add this code to all of your product detail pages, or to selected product detail pages only. This code will work together with JavaScript that we have previously added into your store pages.

Customize display settings and retrieve Cross-Sell code

Before retrieving the code, customize your cross-sell display settings using the Product Details Options page in Cross-Sell Manager:

1. In Cross-Sell Manager, click on the Edit button in the Product Detail Display area at the top of the page.
2. On the Product Detail Display Options page, choose the "Display" radio button beside Cross-Sell.
3. Choose to enable or disable Auto-Suggest (read more about Auto-Suggest).
4. Customize your product area appearance, by editing the header text, selecting the maximum number of items to display (up to 6), and choosing horizontal or vertical placement of Cross-Sell items on your page.
5. Download Cross-Sell code and instructions for inserting it into your product pages. Cross-Sell items will not appear on product detail pages until this code has been inserted.
6. Click the Update button.

Add Cross-Sell code to all product detail pages

You may use a global variable within Store Editor to insert Cross-Sell code in all product detail pages at once. Once the code has been inserted and changes published, Cross-Sell items will appear on all product detail pages in your store.

Using Store Editor:

1. Choose Variables from the Store Editor toolbar.
2. In the Page Properties section, locate the Final-text field.
3. Insert the code before all other content in the Final-text field (recommended placement).*
4. Click the Update button.
5. Publish your changes in Store Editor.

* Note: Placing the code within the Final-text field is recommended placement only, for merchants using standard templates. Code may be placed within any field that accepts HTML, including custom fields that have been created for custom templates. The code will function if placed anywhere within the field, but its placement above or below other content will determine if Cross-Sell items are displayed above or below this content on the page.

Add Cross-Sell code to selected product detail pages

You may use either Store Editor or Catalog Manager to insert Cross-Sell code in individual product detail pages. Cross-Sell items will only appear on product detail pages for which you've inserted the code once changes have been published. Note that code inserted using either Store Editor or Catalog Manager will be applied to Store Editor pages only.

Using Store Editor:

1. Choose Item from the Store Editor toolbar.
2. In the Object Properties section, locate the Caption field.
3. Insert the code after all other content in the Caption field (recommended placement).*
4. Click the Update button.
5. Publish your changes in Store Editor.

Using Catalog Manager:

1. Enter the Manage Your Items section.
2. Click on an item ID to edit the item.
3. In the Store Fields section, locate the Caption field.
4. Insert the code after all other content in the Caption field (recommended placement).*
5. Click the Save button.
6. Open Store Editor.
7. Publish your changes in Store Editor.

* Placing the code within the Caption field is recommended placement only. Code may be placed within any field that accepts HTML, including custom fields that have been created for custom templates. The code will function if placed anywhere within the field, but its placement above or below other content will determine if Cross-Sell items are displayed above or below this content on the page.

Note: Cross-Sell Manager is available only with Merchant Solutions Standard, Professional, and Yahoo! Store packages. This feature is not currently available to stores using Web Hosting and Store Tags.
