Cross-Sell's auto-suggest feature delivers automated related item suggestions for Selected Items, based on your store's sales and navigation (product view) histories. Cross-sell auto-suggestions displayed on product detail pages are based upon navigation history first, followed by sales history. Cross-sell auto-suggestions displayed on your shopping cart page are based upon sales history first, followed by navigation history. The navigation information auto-suggest uses for your store is refreshed on a nightly basis, while sales information is refreshed weekly.

If you have created Cross-Sell rules for your store, enabling auto-suggest will not override these rules. Rules for Selected Items will be displayed first on product detail and shopping cart pages, followed by auto-suggest item recommendations.

How to enable auto-suggest for product detail pages:

1. In the Display Options area of Cross-Sell Manager, click the Edit link beside Product Detail.
2. On the Product Detail Display Options page, enable the "On" radio button beside "Auto-Suggest".
3. Download Cross-Sell code and instructions for inserting it into your product pages. Auto-suggested items will not appear on your product detail pages until this code has been inserted, and your changes published. Learn how to add Cross-Sell code to your product pages.
4. Click the Update button.
5. Verify your settings in Cross-Sell Manager. In the Display Options area, the "Auto-Suggest" listing under the Product Detail heading should now be set to "On".

How to enable auto-suggest for shopping cart pages:

1. In the Display Options area of Cross-Sell Manager, click the Edit link beside Shopping Cart.
2. On the Shopping Cart Display Options page, enable the "On" radio button beside "Auto-Suggest".
3. Click the Update button.
4. Verify your settings in Cross-Sell Manager. In the Display Options area, the "Auto-Suggest" listing under the Shopping Cart heading should now be set to "On".
