How do I set up rules in Cross-Sell Manager?

To create a Cross-Sell rule for your cart page:

  1. In Cross-Sell Manager, click the Create Entry button at the top of the page.
  2. Next, choose an item from the drop down list that appears under the "Selected Item" column. Choose to display this item on the Product Detail page, on the Shopping Cart page, or both (see Figure 1, A). If your store does not have Checkout Manager enabled, you will not see this option, and all rules will apply to Shopping Cart pages only.
  3. Set optional start and end dates, if you'd like.
  4. Choose Cross-Sell items to either appear or never appear with the selected item (Figure 1, B). If your store does not have Checkout Manager enabled, you will not see this option.
  5. If you'd like to offer discounts when the cross-sell item is added to the cart in combination with the selected item, you can set either a dollar amount or percentage amount in the Discount field. Learn more.
  6. Click the Create Entry button.
  7. Verify your rule in Cross-Sell Manager.

You can choose as many Cross-Sell items as per selected item as you'd like, but only a maximum of 100 items will appear at any time on your cart page.

If your store has more than 100 items, you may prefer to create and upload your rules in a table. Learn more.

To create a Cross-Sell rule for a product detail page (stores with Checkout Manager enabled only):

  3. Set optional start and end dates, if you'd like.
  4. Choose Cross-Sell items to either appear or never appear with the selected item, up to a maximum of 6 items (Figure 1, B).
  5. If you'd like to offer discounts when the cross-sell item is added to the cart in combination with the selected item, you can set either a dollar amount or percentage amount in the Discount field. Learn more.

Cross-Sell rules may be edited at any time. Once a rule has been created, you can modify it by clicking the Edit button next to the rule and changing settings as you'd like, then clicking the Modify Entry button.

Stores with more than 100 items

When creating rules in Cross-Sell Manager, the Cross-Sell Items drop-down list will display up to a maximum of 100 items. Merchants whose stores carry more than 100 products will not see their complete inventory in the Cross-Sell Items list, and may prefer to create and upload rules in a table, using a CSV spreadsheet.

Download an instructive example spreadsheet (Microsoft Excel required to open file):

Click on the column headers to get instructive text on how to enter data into the Cross-sell spreadsheet. Remember to save the file as .CSV format in order to upload.

Note: Cross-Sell Manager is available only with Merchant Solutions Standard, Professional, and Yahoo! Store packages. The product detail page and auto-suggest Cross-Sell features are only available for stores using Checkout Manager.
