Enabling Your Product Catalog for Search Engines and Third Parties

Merchants may wish to enable their product catalog data file, catalog.xml. This file can then be used by search engines and other third party services such as product feeds for comparison shopping engines or advanced in-site search functionality.

  1. In Store Manager, click the "Search Engines" link, located in the Promote column. You will be taken to the Promote Your Site on Search Engines section of Store Manager.
  2. Locate the catalog.xml field in the "Enable and Submit your Product Catalogs to Shopping Comparison Engines" section of the page.
  3. Select the "Enable" option, if the catalog.xml file has not already been enabled (Figure 1).
  4. Click the "Done" button. If you're curious about what this file looks like, you may view it by clicking the "Download" link.

The "Enable but do not syndicate" option is also available for merchants who wish to enable their catalog.xml file, but do not want the file sent to search engines or other comparison shopping engines (for example, if you manage your own product feeds).
