Uploading Cross-Sell Rules in a Table

The Cross-Sell Manager allows you to display related items in the Shopping Cart when a certain product(s) are added to the order by the customer. You can manage the cross-sell items using a CSV (comma separated value) spreadsheet file edited in a spreadsheet application such as Microsoft Excel and then upload a table to add new rules or replace all rules with a new set.

Download an instructive example spreadsheet (Microsoft Excel required to open file):

Click on the column headers to get instructive text on how to enter data into the Cross-sell spreadsheet. Remember to save the file as .CSV format in order to upload.

To upload a cross-sell table:

  1. From the Cross-Sell Manager, click the "Upload Table" button. (Note: If this is the first time you are adding cross-sell rules, you can click the "Download Table" button to download a cross-sell table CSV file.)
  2. Click the "Browse" button. (A Choose File dialog opens.)
  3. Locate and select the CSV file you wish to upload and click "Open". (The Choose File dialog closes and the path to your CSV file appears in the text box.)
  4. Click "Send".
  5. Do one of the following:
    • If your file contained problems, the problems will be noted. You will need to edit the CSV file in your spreadsheet application to fix the problems. Click "Reload" to proceed.
    • If your file was validated, and you are adding rules to an existing set of cross-sell rules, click "Add".
    • If your file was validated, and you are uploading an entire new set of rules (or uploading rules for the first time), click "Rebuild".

The Cross-Sell Manager will then display your cross-sell rules.

Note: All purchase and target items must have unique codes (set up in either the Store Editor or Catalog Manager, or with a database upload) and unique options codes. When entering products in Catalog Manager or Store Editor, set up each product with a unique code and set up unique options codes in the Catalog Manager if your item contains options (such as color or size). If cross-sell items are not working in checkout, ensure that both purchase and target items have unique codes and unique options codes.

Note: Cross-Sell Manager is available only with Merchant Solutions Standard, Professional, and Yahoo! Store packages. The product detail page and auto-suggest Cross-Sell features are only available for stores using Checkout Manager.
