Registering and authenticating your site with Yahoo! Site Explorer allows you to access detailed information in Yahoo! Search for your site's online presence. You can get information such as:
- Find which sub-pages within a URL are indexed by Yahoo!.
- Find pages that link to that site or any page. (inlinks)
- Submit and track feeds for your sites.
In order to register and authenticate your site you will need to add your site to Site Explorer, copy your authentication key information, then add your authentication information to your store. Once completed, you can then submit a request to authenticate your site with Site Explorer.
Register your Yahoo! Store:
- Visit Yahoo! Site Explorer and add your Yahoo! store (see figure 1).
- Once your store has been registered, click the Authenticate button (see figure 2).
- Copy your alpha-numeric authenticationfilename and contents (see figure 3). (e.g. Filename: y_key_7abe9b660c327bb1.html, File contents: b171066591908be4)

Authenticate your Yahoo! Store:
- Open a new browser window and go to Yahoo! Small Business.
- Sign in to your Store Manager and click the Search Engines link under the Promote Section.
- In the Authenticate with Yahoo! Site Explorer section (see figure 4), enter the alpha-numeric Filename (A) and File Contents (B) that you have copied from Site Explorer.
- After clicking Done, publish your Order Settings.

Tell Site Explorer Your Store is ready to Authenticate:
- Return to Site Explorer, and click Ready to Authenticate. Site Explorer will then check for the authentication file within 24 hours and your site should be authenticated.
Note: Authenticating your site only means that Site Explorer has authenticated that you are the owner of the site and not that your site has been indexed and appears in the Yahoo! Search Index.
