PayPal uses the random deposit verification as a means to confirm the bank account added to a U.S. PayPal account. After a PayPal account holder adds a bank account, PayPal makes small random deposits to the account. The account holder then confirms that they are the legitimate account holder by informing PayPal of the amounts deposited. PayPal allows "verified" accounts to do more such as lifting sending and withdrawal limits and qualification for the Seller Protection policy.
