Pointing my Yahoo! Domain to my Store Account

Yahoo! Merchant Solutions provides you with the ability to switch your domain name traffic between your Yahoo! Store Editor created pages and your Yahoo! Web Hosting File Manager. This is so that you can choose which solution is best for you when building your store.

There are a few things to take into consideration when you are deciding which portion of your Merchant Solutions account you wish to be the main point of entry for your customers.

If you are relatively new to web site building and the Internet, using the Store Editor may be best for you. The Store Editor included in your Merchant Solutions package runs off of preset templates that allow you to easily configure your store in a number of ways. If you choose to have your domain name pointed towards these Editor pages, your Web Hosting File Manager files will be accessible at http://site.yourdomain.com.

If, however, you wish to have greater control over your pages and create the HTML directly or through a web site building tool such as Yahoo! SiteBuilder (available in your Yahoo! Web Hosting Control Panel) or a third-party program such as Microsoft FrontPage or Macromedia Dreamweaver, you will want to point your traffic to your Web Hosting File Manager. If you choose this option, your Store Editor pages will be accessible at http://store.yourdomain.com.

To make this change, log into your Manage My Service page at http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com.

Click the Domain Control Panel for the Merchant Solutions package in question.

If you have newly upgraded to Merchant Solutions from a Yahoo! Store account, we have automatically kept your traffic going to your Yahoo! Store to prevent disruption of your existing traffic. However, you may choose to change that at any time.

To change your main point of entry:

  1. Go to your "Manage My Services" page and click the link to Domains Control Panel for your Merchant Solutions account.
  2. Click on "Manage Your Domain and Subdomains."
  3. Click on the "Edit" link next to your domain name.
  4. Here you will be able to switch traffic between your Web Hosting File Manager and Store Editor created pages. Simply select the option you wish and click the "Submit" button.

These pages will provide you with valuable information regarding the impact of your changes. Be sure to read the information carefully before committing to any changes.
