For best results, we recommend using our interface to apply for and register any new domain names for your Yahoo! Store site. Using our interface automates the entire process for you, from sending the application to INWW (Internet Names Worldwide) with the appropriate technical and server information to the actual activation of your domain name. Since a domain name must appear in the Domain Names section of the Store Manager to work for your Yahoo! Store once it is registered, registering your domains through our interface can make the whole process easier.
To apply for a new domain name (e.g., www.mydomain.com), do the following:
- Sign in to your Store Manager.
- Click the "Domain Names" link in the Site Settings column.
- Here you can fill in the domain name you want to use for your site. If the name isn't taken, you can apply to INWW to register it using our interface.
If the name is already registered by you, you'll see a page indicating it is already registered (and to whom it is registered), and you'll have the option of transferring the domain to Yahoo! Store by entering "This is my domain" in the text input field near the bottom of that page.
If the name is already registered by someone else, you can click on the "Back" button to try to register a different domain name.
In any case, just continue following the instructions that appear on screen, and click on the "Next" button to continue through the process of registering or transferring your domain.
When you use our interface to apply for or transfer your domain name, that domain name will immediately appear in the Domain Names section of your Store Manager. This is only to prepare for the automatic activation of your domain name upon completion your request. This does not mean that the domain name for your site is immediately active, nor does it mean that the domain name you have requested is available.
