Password Protection with Store Editor

You can password protect your Yahoo! Store site using the "Customer Access" link in the Site Settings column of the Store Manager. Enabling password protection blocks your entire site from view to those without a password. It's not currently possible to password protect only certain areas of your Store. If you enable passwords for viewing your site, a customer must enter a valid username and password before they will be able to view any page of your site.

The following instructions apply to stores built using the Store Editor. If you are using the Yahoo! Web Hosting portion of your Merchant Solutions account to build your store, you will need to read about password protection for Yahoo! Web Hosting.

To enable Password Protection for Store Editor pages:

  1. Click the "Customer Access" link in the Store Manager.
  2. Select the "Enable passwords for viewing site" link.
  3. Set up username and passwords to access your store.

To set up passwords:

  1. Enter a user name in the "User" field. (Email addresses are recommended)
  2. Enter a password in the "Password" field (or leave blank).
  3. Click the "Add/Change" button.

The username you just added appears under the "Current Viewing Passwords" header. You can enter a username and a new password to edit the password of a user. Click "Delete" next to a user to delete their access.

To disable Password Protection for Store Editor pages:

  1. Click the "Customer Access" link in the Store Manager.
  2. Select the "Disable passwords for viewing site" link.
