Free Shipping Offer

Using Floating Cart Manager, you can set up a free shipping offer to be displayed to customers in the floating cart. You may also customize messages to display to customers before and after their order qualifies for free shipping. For example, you may wish to let customers know how much more they must add to their order to qualify for free shipping, and then inform them when their order qualifies for the promotion.

Note: Customers may not apply a coupon discount in addition to the free shipping offer. If a customer applies a coupon after the free shipping discount is applied, they will see a message that informs them of this, and will be provided with a link to apply the free shipping offer if they wish to receive this discount instead of the coupon discount (see Figure 1).

To set up the free shipping offer:

  1. In the Global Settings tab of Floating Cart Manager, locate the Free Shipping Offer Settings section near the bottom of the page.
  2. Select the "Enable" radio button to enable the free shipping offer in your floating cart.
  3. Using the Free Shipping Method drop-down menu, select a shipping method to use for your free shipping offer. In order to create a free shipping offer, you must already have a shipping method set up for your store. Learn how to set up a shipping method.
  4. Enter the minimum order value amount that is required for an order to qualify for free shipping. For example, if you wish for an order to qualify for free shipping once it reaches $50.00 or above, enter 50.00 in this field.

Next, you can customize messages displayed in the floating cart both before and after an order qualifies for the free shipping offer.

Message Before Qualifying

By default, this message provides an order value "countdown" to customers, informing them how much to add to their order to qualify for free shipping. In Floating Cart Manager, the default message is entered as:

Add %TOTAL% more to your order to qualify for free %SHIP_METHOD% shipping.

When displayed to customers in the floating cart area, the %TOTAL% variable is replaced by the dollar amount a customer still needs to add to their order in order to qualify for free shipping. This is calculated based on the dollar amount of what has already been added to their shopping cart, and what the merchant has set as the required order value dollar amount in Floating Cart Manager. The %SHIP_METHOD% variable is replaced by the shipping method selected by the merchant in Floating Cart Manager. Merchants should use this field to note any exceptions to their free shipping offer, such as states or countries orders that apply for free shipping may be shipped to.

The content of this message may be customized by the merchant, and may include up to a maximum of 100 characters. To provide an order value countdown, the %TOTAL% value should be used when inserting content into this field. Using the %SHIP_METHOD% variable ensures that the selected shipping method will always be displayed to customers without having to update the message, even if the selected shipping method is later changed in Floating Cart Manager.

Message Once Qualified

The message entered into this field will be shown to customers in the floating cart once their order qualifies for free shipping. In Floating Cart Manager, the default message is entered as:

Congratulations. Your order qualifies for free %SHIP_METHOD% shipping.

When displayed to customers, the %SHIP_METHOD% variable is replaced by the shipping method selected by the merchant in Floating Cart Manager. If the merchant wishes to include information in this message about the shipping method used for this offer, using the %SHIP_METHOD% variable ensures that the selected shipping method will always be displayed to customers without having to update the message, even if the selected shipping method is later changed in Floating Cart Manager.
