Adding a Custom Variable

You can define custom variables in the Store Editor for your store that you can then use by editing templates to include the custom variable. You must set the Store Editor to advanced mode in order to add custom variables to the Variables page.

To switch the Store Editor to Advanced mode:

  • From the Store Editor, click the red arrow that appears at the end of the Editor toolbar.

To add a custom variable:

  1. Click the "Variables" button in the Editor toolbar.
  2. Click the "Define New Variable" button.
  3. Enter a name for your custom variable.
  4. Select a field type that corresponds to the type of input field you want for the variable. For example, if you wish to add a variable to place HTML for a page footer, select the "text" type.
  5. Click "Continue".
The new variable appears at the bottom of the Variables page under Custom Variables.
  6. Edit the custom variable as desired.
  7. Click "Update".

Note: Now that you have defined a new custom variable, you must call the variable by editing the template.
