Note: The following instructions are for merchants using custom templates, who wish to create a custom RTML template for the search results page used when the new Site Search is enabled.
The custom RTML template for the search results page for the new Site Search should be used the ID nsearch. To create this template:
- In Advanced Editor, click the "Templates" link in the Editor toolbar. (If you are not already using the Advanced Editor, click the red arrow located to the right of the Editor toolbar. Once you are using the Advanced Editor, you will see the "Templates" link.)
- Click the "New Template" link at the top of the Templates page.
- In the "ID of new template" field, enter "nsearch".
Next, you will need to insert a div code within the body of your template:
- Click the "BODY" link on your newly-created template page. The link will become black text.
- Click the "New" button in the Template Editor toolbar.
- From the list of options that appears, select "DIV," and click the "Create" button.
- Click the "DIV" link for the newly-created div. The link text will become black.
- Click the "Edit" button in the Template Editor toolbar.
- For the "id" field for the DIV, enter ys_searchiframe and click the "Update" button.
- Click the BODY link again. The link text will become black.
- Click the "Paste Within" button in the Template Editor toolbar.
Finally, you will need to add the SUPER-LOADER operator after the DIV you've just added:
- Click the "New" button in the Template Editor toolbar.
- From the list of options that appears, select "SUPER-LOADER," and click the "Create" button.
- Click the "Paste After" button in the Template Editor toolbar.
Once you've created the custom RTML template for your search results page, you must enable the new Site Search using the Site Search Settings tool before the new Site Search can be previewed in Store Editor. To enable the new Site Search:
- In Store Manager, click the "Site Search Settings" link.
- On the Site Search Settings page, click the "Enable new site search" checkbox.
- Click the "Save" button on the confirmation pop-up. Note: This saves your changes, but does not publish the new Site Search to your live site.
- Customize your search result settings, visual display settings, and search filter settings.
Once you have verified your new Site Search settings in Store Editor and wish to enable the new Site Search on your live store, publish Store Editor.
